Besides, not every number is ever covered on a given spin, and the bets that miss make up for the wins. If every number was covered with the same bet on every spin of a roulette wheel, the house would only make a marginal profit, but because they aren’t, the house makes a huge profit.

I’m not saying that roulette or any table game or slot machine is going to make money for the player on a long term basis, because it won’t. If you play and quit when you’re ahead, you’ll make money short term, but in the long run the house always makes money.
